SAT® practice test guide
Use a SAT® practice test to find a starting point, build timing habits and decide what to study next. Begin with College Board’s no-cost adaptive practice, then add further practice when you need it.
Know the digital test format
College Board lists two sections: Reading and Writing (54 questions in 64 minutes) and Math (44 questions in 70 minutes). Each section has two equal-length modules. There is a 10-minute break between sections; testing time totals 2 hours 14 minutes, excluding the break. Performance in the first module influences the difficulty of the second.

Start with no-cost adaptive practice
College Board provides full-length adaptive practice in Bluebook™. This is the best place to become familiar with the test application and adaptive experience. A fixed PDF cannot reproduce adaptive routing or the application’s tools.
Turn a practice result into a plan
- Attempt a full test in one sitting when you have enough uninterrupted time.
- Review every wrong answer and every correct answer you guessed. Record why the tempting answer was wrong.
- Group errors by skill and cause: missing knowledge, misreading, setup or time pressure.
- Practise a small set of weak skills, then return to a fresh test later. Avoid repeating a memorised test as a progress measure.
Using extra printable practice
Exam Pulse offers independent full-length practice tests with answer explanations for the March 2027 preparation cycle. Use them for additional questions and review, not as a replacement for digital familiarisation. They are fixed practice papers, not an adaptive application.
